Welcome to the Smart Mobility Center (SMC)
Welcome to the Smart Mobility Center (SMC)

We currently have 3 research initiatives:
These are explained as follows
Named after our founders home town in France. A series of research reports addressing the art and practice of various hot topics in smart mobility. In cooperation with subject matter experts from around the world, best practices and emerging technologies will be identified and defined. Using a unique four step development approach, the experts will explore, discuss, and capture current best practices and trends from planning to operations, associated with emerging technologies worldwide, the four step process is outlined as follows:
Step one setting the scene
A virtual round table using webinar technologies is used to convene a small group of subject matter experts. In the course of the meeting the background is explained with issues and aspects to be addressed in the report described and defined. The video on the left provides additional information on the virtual round table
Step two: defining the report
The small group of subject matter experts is reconvened to develop a detailed outline for the report. Mind mapping tools are used to support collaboration in the creation of detailed outline.
Step three: developing and reviewing the report
A small writing team of two or three people develop the report based on the outline created by the subject matter experts. The report is then reviewed by the subject matter experts and finalized by the writing team.
Step four: rolling at the report
The report is published online and presented at appropriate international conferences.

Will be rolling out at the end of August 2025 at the ITS World Congress
Currently published below
Will be rolling out January 2026
Will be rolling out April 2026
Will be rolling out July 2026
Will be conducted in all R3 reports

Our network facilitates real-time sharing of operational insights, technical specifications, and performance metrics among transportation agencies implementing AES technologies. This direct exchange eliminates knowledge silos and accelerates learning curves.
By pooling analytical resources and methodologies, member agencies can leverage collective intelligence to optimize traffic flow, enhance safety outcomes, and improve overall mobility system performance across jurisdictions.
Through structured interaction between experienced practitioners and technology pioneers, the network creates a fertile environment for developing next-generation enforcement approaches that balance effectiveness with public acceptance.
Wiligence is a groundbreaking initiative from the Smart Mobility Center, offering a comprehensive toolbox to empower decision-makers in the realm of smart mobility. This revolutionary platform leverages the principles of diligence, wisdom, and intelligence to transform the way transportation planning and deployment are approached.
At the heart of Wiligence lies a suite of online tools designed to guide users through crucial processes like benefit-cost analysis, conceptual design, and life cycle cost-benefit assessments. By seamlessly integrating Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT), Wiligence allows for the incorporation of stakeholder preferences, ensuring that every decision is tailored to the unique needs of the community. Wiligence is under development and a prototype will be used as part of the delivery of our professional development courses.
Currently the Minimum Viable Product is in association with Western University

This research report explores the critical infrastructure parameters across the world's 1000 largest urban centers. It was prepared as part of the development project for Wiligence, to collect data for ML and city modeling. It also represents a unique examination of transportation networks, vehicle usage, smart facility distribution, operational costs, and environmental impacts that shape modern cities. The analysis provides valuable insights for urban planners, policymakers, and technology providers focused on creating more efficient, sustainable, and livable urban environments.
